Rule of Thirds

So I am taking a Basic Photography class at Samford University.  My first assignment is to turn in five pictures using the Rule of Thirds.  Well, this week it has been cold and rainy.  All of my pictures had to be taken inside and my camera...or lens...or whatever does not always agree with indoor lighting.  Yes, I realize this is something I need to fix.  I hate using my flash (I'm sure there's a pretty way to use a flash, I just don't know how yet without getting ugly shadows!!).  I just sold one of my lenses on e-bay - the kit lens that came with my camera.  That left me temporarily with only my zoom lens.  I just ordered my Canon 50mm 1.8 lens and should have it by the end of this week! All of that to say, here are the only pictures I could come up with this week for my assignment.  None of which am I very proud of...lacking in inspiration to say the least...hoping for better pictures next week!

Before I post my five pictures, let me explain to you what it feels like to learn the skills of photography.  I feel like I understand how a baby feels as he is learning a new language.  Wanting desperately to speak so people can understand him and feeling so frustrated when nothing but babbling comes out of his mouth!  That's how I feel when I take pictures.  As I drool over insanely gorgeous photos that other talented photographers have taken, I grab my camera only to get too dark, too over exposed, too grainy, you name it, crappy pictures!  Lol!  In other words, "babble".  So....here's my babble (actually, the best of my babble - because, believe me when I say most of the pictures I took were just wrong...all wrong!):

Daughter Love

 All Girl

His Treasure

Sweetheart Dance
